Yesterday, Rob and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary. Two years really does not seem like a long time at all. We decided that in some ways, it has felt like a really long time and in others, not long at all. In the last two years, we got married, Rob got a promotion, I changed jobs, we bought a house, had a baby and I stopped working to stay home with Kinsley. All of this, I think, is what makes it seem so much longer... like how can so many huge things happen in two years? I know we are young (or so I think?) and so much more lies ahead. We are beginning to realize that and are striving to not waste another day that we have been given; yet so many days go by, one after the other.

I am so grateful to be married to such a wonderful man who seeks the Lord and His will for our lives. Our marriage would not be the same if this were not the case. While two years really is not long at all, it has been long enough for us to realize what is important and what God's purpose for marriage really is; not just to 'know' what it is, but to actually experience it. Rob and I are on vacation in Vero this week and were walking on the beach today. Rob started talking about his Grandaddy who past away just over a year ago. He was a wonderful man who loved Jesus with his whole heart and lived daily for Christ. Grandaddy's wife has Alzheimer's and lives in a nursing home. He was so devoted and committed to her that he did not want to be away from her for one day or even half of a day. She would not have even known that he'd been gone. He was committed to her in a way that didn't make much sense to others, but it is the perfect picture of what marriage is supposed to look like, the relationship of Christ and the church. Marriage isn't about someone making you happy or having a 'soul mate' to spend the rest of your life with. God intends marriage to mirror his relationship to the church and his love for them. He laid down his life for them, for us.
I Corinthians 13:13
And these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Thank you, Rob, for two wonderful years; for your commitment to me and for seeking to love me like Christ loved the church! I love you! :)
And because she's so much more fun to look at than we are...

We love her! :)
